System Prompt
A set of instructions given to an AI model before the conversation begins, defining its behavior, persona, and constraints.
A system prompt is the behind-the-scenes instruction that shapes how an AI responds. It sets the tone, role, and rules before the user ever types a message.
Examples
- “You are a helpful coding assistant. Always respond with code examples.”
- “Answer in Spanish. Keep responses under 100 words.”
- “You are a legal advisor. Never provide medical advice.”
