Prompt Engineering
The practice of crafting effective instructions and inputs to get better, more accurate responses from AI models.
Prompt engineering is the art of writing better instructions for AI models. A well-crafted prompt can dramatically improve the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of a model’s output.
Key Techniques
- Be specific — “Write a 3-paragraph blog intro about X” beats “Write about X”
- Give context — Tell the model who it’s writing for and why
- Use examples — Show the format you want (few-shot prompting)
- Set constraints — Specify length, tone, format, or what to avoid
System Prompts
System prompts are instructions set before the conversation begins. They define the AI’s role, behavior, and constraints. TalkFlux lets you set system prompts at conversation, project, or account level.
Common Mistakes
- Being too vague (“make it better”)
- Overloading a single prompt with too many tasks
- Not iterating — good prompts often take a few tries
